About Me

Welcome to my online portfolio. I assume you are here either because I told you to check this page out or someone I told referred you here. At any rate, here’s the rundown:

This site is dedicated to the all of the significant game development and other programming work I’ve done over the years. My ultimate goal is to become a game developer/programmer at a game studio where I can apply my abilities as a programmer, experienced mod-maker, and avid gamer coupled with my education in system analysis, system design, and game programming to make the best games possible.

If you are a potential employer, I urge you to navigate around this site on the top of the page to view the previous work I’ve done. If you feel I may be a good candidate for an open spot, shoot me an email and we can arrange a time to chat. I am currently seeking an opportunity to develop games professionally.

If you are not a potential employer, no problem. Feel free to navigate around, share the site with your friends, etc. I do not mind my work being shared, watched, analyzed or critiqued..

So here’s a quick summary of why I think I’d be an excellent asset to a game development studio:

I started writing code (BASIC) on green-screen Apple 2e’s when I was in the 4th grade. While the other kids in the class were having snack time, I was on the nearest computer either writing code from examples in a library book or looking at the source code for Oregon Trail and Number Munchers. I didn’t fully understand it until around age 13 when I started dabbling in C++. I did that for a few months and put it down. I never had pleasure of being punished by writing repeating lines of “I will not…” on the chalkboard in school, but if I did I probably would have written: for(int i=0; i<50; i++) { printf(“I will not throw paper airplanes in class.\n”); } and then gone to recess.

I picked C++ up again at age 15 to write my first mod for Half-Life, Spud Gun Mod. I liked doing that so much that I couldn’t stop. I can recall numerous times of thinking about what my daily actions in life would look like in code. I went on to work on Nuke!, Firearms, and then Firearms 2. I still work on mods to this day but now I work with a group of very talented game development hobbyists writing total conversions for the Source engine.

After writing a few programs and tons of scripts as a systems administrator, I transitioned into a development role with the company I had started my career with. Once I felt I was in a stable position, I decided to go back and augment my Associates Degree in CIS with a Bachelors Degree in Game and Simulation Programming. I’ve been working on that degree since October 2007. I expect to obtain it in the fall months of 2010.

Interested? Download my CV and check out my full list of skills and then shoot me an email to set up an interview. I’m willing to relocate to the Seattle/Redmond areas and a few select areas in California (San Francisco, San Jose, San Diego) if required.
